The School-age Program held at Hesston Elementary school provides before and after school care for children kindergarten through fourth grade. The before school program begins at 6:30 a.m. and continues until breakfast is served.  The program continues with the school dismissal bell at 3:05 and closes at 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.  On those days in which school is not in session, the program will operate 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

The program is facilitated by a program director and staff who are there to encourage recreation while building self-esteem and social skills that will help them succeed in and out of the classroom. This is not an extension of school, therefore we do not offer educational support.   However, if a child chooses to work on their studies we are equipped to meet their needs.  Each child is provided with a nutritious snack on their arrival and is then given free choice of indoor games to play.  As the last child finishes snack, we head outside, play group games or take advantage of the gymnasium.  All activities are appropriate for the varying age groups found in our program.  Safety, Respect for Self and Respect for Others are encouraged within the Hesston Afterschool Program.

Summer Camp

The Hesston Summer Camp begins after school has dismissed for the summer and operates until school begins again in August.  Dates are specific to the school calendar for that particular year.  We are open 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The summer program consists of a program director and an energetic staff that will maintain a safe and fun environment while your child learns about and explores the world and their place in it.   Each week falls under an overall theme for the summer and is run very much like a typical day camp.  We visit the library, go swimming, do crafts, have quiet times, reading times, play outside, go on field trips, explore the town, view films and simply strive to enjoy the summer months.  While the atmosphere is fun, it is still structured and skillfully supervised.  The children are fed nutritious meals and snacks and provided many opportunities to succeed in learning and growing throughout the summer months, preparing them for an exciting school year.  Hesston Summer Camp will keep your child safe, actively engaged and entertained throughout the summer.

The theme for this year's Summer Camp is "Swather Character Camp"  They will be addressing the following with a week or two devoted to each aspect of good character.
